Happy half term!

We have had a wonderful week celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee in many different aspects of our learning.

First of all, our children were challenged to re-write the story of Silly Doggy. What fantastic sentences AND handwriting we had, Mrs Kelly and I were so impressed. Then the children went on to write a message to our Queen, who is celebrating 70 years on the throne, in special handmade cards.

Our shape sorters really got to work this week manipulating 2D shapes to create the union flag, building their own palaces with our 3D blocks and matching different items to their corresponding shapes. Furthermore, the children continued with their number line challenge and were determined to beat their previous time of 19 seconds (which is super-fast). Unfortunately it was not to be but I know Hatchmere will be challenging themselves to get below that time when we get back from our Whitsun break. Come on Hatchmere… we know you can do it!!

Our fabulous Hatchmerian artistes have been drawing some wonderful portraits of Queen Elizabeth! Mrs Kelly and I always enjoy their artistic interpretations and we hope you do too. Additionally, the children have been learning a new song in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee and in their final performance today, sang beautifully.

Well done for all that you have achieved this half term Hatchmere, we are excited to see what you can do in the next.

Could your child write a special diary for the half term break? Or write about a special day out or even a trip to the local park? We would love to celebrate them on the children's return to school.

Enjoy the half term break, make some special memories and we will see you all on Monday 6th June.
