Hatchmere's Class Blog 4.7.25

I think it is fair to say that Hatchmere have achieved quite a lot this week!

The children used their describing skills to explain what Supertato looks and what he is like as a hero. They were able to demonstrate confident use of a capital letter and full stop alongside their beautiful handwriting. It is wonderful to see the children take such pride in their presentation. You will also be glad to hear that the children have managed to finally capture and contain those Evil Peas…we will all be glad not to have to tidy up after their shenanigans in our classroom.

In maths the children have been exploring the pattern of counting up to and beyond 20. We have played lots of counting games going forwards and backwards and the children are so good at it, I haven't been able to catch them out...yet! They have been showing me what they know about numbers, it is amazing how many different things they can tell me about the number 5 (odd number, 1 more than 4, 1 less than 6, 3+2 = 5, 5+0 =5, double 5 is 10).

This week’s numberline challenge champions were Team 1 yet again. They worked together to organise the correct ordination in 19 seconds! 5 raffle tickets each have been awarded. Well done!

Our Outside classroom has been buzzzzzzzzzing with insect activity as the children have become bug detectives. We have spotted so many mini beasts and are enjoying learning about the role they play in our world.

Have you heard that we have visited the beach this week? The children have had a wonderful time in our Outside Classroom setting up the parasols, deckchairs and wearing their sunglasses as we have discussed and role-played sun safety.

Have a look at our Art display in the pictures below. Our Hatchmerian artists have taken inspiration from Anna Blatman to create some beautiful birds. They have used coloured card, and watercolour snippings as a substitute for feathers and I think they look fabulous! 

Phew, I think they (and us) deserve a rest this weekend.
