School Uniform

Please may I refer everyone to our school uniform policy, which can be found on our website. I have noticed quite a few variances to our uniform creeping in lately, particularly trainers, different versions of the checked blue and white summer dress and to PE kits which are on our policy. I appreciate that we are getting close to the end of the year and children may be growing out of things, but please make every effort to send your children to school in the correct uniform. If you are having any difficulties with this, please do speak to me on the gate in a morning as I am always happy to listen and do not mind making exceptions for those people who have had conversations with me.

Sports Day

We are very much looking forward to our Sports Day being held jointly with St. Joseph’s at St. Joseph’s next week – fingers crossed for the weather as I think there is a change afoot! I would just like to give you some information regarding the day, much of which was on my blog last week:

  • Children to come to school in their PE kit, which is black shorts and a plain coloured t-shirt in the team colour that they came home with last week via a sticker on their uniform. If your child is unable to wear a plain coloured t-shirt in their team colour, they may wear their usual plain white PE t-shirt and we will give them another coloured sticker to help identify their team.
  • All children will either need a packed lunch from home or ordered via the usual way from the school kitchen at registration.
  • Children should have an extra bottle of water for the day, suncream on with a high sun protection factor and a sun hat.
  • Children will not need to bring any of their normal bags/ books etc. though may want a light waterproof jacket in case of light rain showers.
  • Adults can join us from 12pm for a picnic lunch – please bring your own picnic.
  • Pick up will be at 2.45pm from St. Joseph’s – please ensure you have completed the survey on School Spider giving permission for this.

If there are to be any changes to the day, due to the weather, we will inform you all via School Spider as soon as we can – please do not ring the office to check as this can be time consuming for the office staff.

Wake Up Wednesday

Easy cash, no strings attached: Young people are being recruited via social media to serve as money mules: ‘washing’ illegal funds through their bank accounts.

This week, National Online Safety’s #WakeUpWednesday guide analyses the growing threat of online money muling, helping trusted adults to understand this hazard and support young people to avoid being drawn in.

DFest

Next Saturday is this year’s Delamere Street Festival. For those unfamiliar with this event, it is hosted by St. John’s church and runs all day along Delamere Street, from Tesco and in the church building starting with a schools parade and performances from 11am. There are street stalls, musicians, a choir festival, art exhibition, cream teas, hog roasts and plenty of fun for the family. Our children in Hatchmere will be perfomring a dance this year as part of the opening parade – please do come along to support them, our church and enjoy a fabulous, free day out!

School Dinners

School dinners cost £2.70 per day, £13.50 per week. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive free meals as part of the government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) scheme.  Dinner money must be paid in advance via School Spider as we do not accept cash in school.

If you are in receipt of benefits and think that you may be entitled to free school meals, please click here for more information and support and how to apply. It is very important to apply for free schools meals whatever year your child is in, even if you receive the UIFSM in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, as the school receives a sum of extra money to further help support your child and their education.

Absence during Term Time

Please may I remind you that schools are not allowed to authorise pupil holidays in term time. Any child going on holiday in term time will receive an unauthorised absence. Our registers are regularly checked by the Education Welfare Service and parents may be issued with a fine from the Local Authority for unauthorised absence, which is currently £60 per child, per parent and this rises to £120 if paid after 21 days but within 28 days.
