Head Teacher Blog: Friday 28th June 2019

Date: 1st Jul 2019 @ 7:52am

First of all, a huge thank you to Mrs McLaughlin and the children in Blakemere who were able to represent the school at the Delamere Street Festival on Saturday – Jaime, Lily, Olivia, Jorja, Hannah, Alycia, Annie, Brooke, Sam, Corey. It was a fantastic day and the children sang their hearts out on the stage as part of the opening performance. Thank you and well done.

Today is our Enterprise Fair Stalls and PTA Summer Stalls. The classes have been busy making products with their £10 to sell after school today and the PTA will be holding four stalls also. This year, we haven’t been able to hold a Summer Fair in our usual way as we are finding that we are struggling for parental support behind the scenes in organising the events and then running the events on the day. I would like to put a huge plea out to everyone to encourage you to support with our PTA events wherever possible – you may remember that we had to cancel the Easter Bingo as there was only one parent volunteer other than our core of two parents who have continued to organise events for the last few years. The PTA provides invaluable financial support to our school at time when – which you may have heard about many times in the news – school budgets are very constrained. So far this year, the PTA have paid for:

Pantomime coaches at £600

A coach for Year 5 to the Bridgewater Hall at £220

Lime Book Band books at £187

Interfaith Forum during our Interfaith Week at £200

Anti-Bullying Workshop at £395

Hatchmere Play Area at £500

Match Funding for new reading books at £1500

As you can see, this is quite an extensive list which we would not have been able to do without the support of our PTA and the funds are now significantly reduced. Please may I urge you to contact our school office if you are able to offer your support in the future in anyway so that our fantastic PTA is able to continue functioning and raising valuable extra financial support for our children? Many thanks.

We currently have a very large amount of outstanding dinner money that is owing to the school - £1112.31. As a school, we use the services of Edsential to provide our school lunches and we have to pay them for the dinners that are eaten. This money still has to be paid to them even if we haven’t received it in school, so it comes directly out of the school budget, which impacts on the education of our children. Please may I remind you to pay for school dinners in advance and if you have any dinner money owing, to pay this before the end of the academic year. The school office will be sending texts home next week to inform parents of any outstanding amounts where necessary.

To celebrate Winsford Town Park's first birthday, the Friends of Winsford Town Park are organising a "Party in the Park" event for this Saturday, 29th June, 11:00am – 4:00pm. There will be a variety of activities including children's colouring and stencilling activities, with mini bird boxes to colour and keep; funfair rides; bootcamp keep-fit sessions from Winsford's DW Fitness First; dance performance from Winsford's Fancy Feet Theatrical Dance group (with a surprise to look forward to!); tea, coffee, soft drinks, sandwiches and cakes will be served at St Andrew's Church and because it's a birthday celebration, there will be a birthday cake to cut and share! It sounds like it will be a lovely day out for the family.
