Hello Sandymere - 26.3.2020

Date: 26th Mar 2020 @ 11:27am

Hello to our gorgeous Sandymere children and your fabulous families!

Well, it is turning out to be another lovely sunny day. So far this week me and my girls have been den building using our ironing board as a frame (much more fun than actually ironing with it!), making obstacle courses, planting and sketching flowers, baking flapjacks and we have even managed to squeeze in some Maths and English learning too.

Something that worked really well was a simple throwing game.

What you will need:

Something to throw. (We used small balls from a ball pool)

A target to throw into. (We used buckets, baskets and a box)

A timer (I used my phone)

We started off with just one target. Before I started the timer we chose how many points each ball was worth. We chose to start with 2 points per ball. Then I timed how many balls Annie could get into the bucket in 30 seconds. We then had to work out her score by counting in 2s. The next time we changed the points per ball to 5 and then 10. It was great fun and allowed for lots of time practising counting in steps of 2, 5 and 10.

Challenge: We then put three targets out at the same time (one target worth 2, one target worth 5 and the last target worth 10) and Annie and Josie both got as many balls in all 3 as possible. (You may work out that it is better to just aim for one target so maybe your grown up could aim for the other targets!) Then at the end of the time work out the totals for each bucket and then add all of the totals together. Annie Scored 260. Can you beat her?!!

Not all of us have access to an outdoor space, so I have also attached a lovely list of indoor activtities for you.

Keep safe, keep smiling and we will be in touch again very soon.
