Hello Sandymere 25.03.2020

Date: 25th Mar 2020 @ 9:53am

Good morning everyone!

What a beautiful day it is outside - the sun is shining and it is definitely starting to feel more like spring.  In Year 1 one of our science objectives is to look at the changing seasons.  In school we have covered autumn and winter, so it would be fabulous if you could look for signs of spring.  Take a look in your garden or immediate outdoor space (please don't go out too far!) and see if you can spot the following

  • bulbs starting to flower
  • buds on shrubs and trees
  • at least three different flowers
  • at least two trees  one deciduous and one evergreen
  • bugs that might be living under stones/logs
  • three different species of birds - stop and listen to see if you can hear different bird song
  • butterflies
  • bees

What happens in the spring to the length of the day? Is it shorter or longer?

Is the weather warmer or colder during the spring?

If you wish, you could draw, label or photograph some of the gorgeous spring evidence you find or even create a spring diary?

Make the most of being at home with your families and enjoy the wonders of nature around you.

Take care everyone and stay safe.
