KWIK CRICKET - DISTRICT FINALS!

Date: 16th Jun 2016 @ 7:02pm

We were thrilled to hear that we had got through to the District Finals of Kwik Cricket at Winnington Park Cricket Ground. That in itself was a tremendous achievement meaning we were to represent the Winsford Cluster of primary schools at this game. The team went into the first match really confident and bowled very well against Leftwich Primary. When it came to batting we lost a couple of easy wickets and that was to be our downfall as we lost by 15 runs!

Our second match against Barnton was another close game and this time our fielding was outstanding with Harry, Rian, Max H and Will B all taking catches. Shaun also took a wicket so I was quite confident when we went in to bat. However, the cricket Gods were not on our side, and our wickets fell to some super bowling.

Next came Hartford Primary and we were determined to avenge our previous defeats. Our fielding was brilliant with Shaun taking two wickets and Max H getting a batsman out with a superb throw at the stumps. Again we were closely beaten, mainly by  lack of concentration in our batting.

Our final game was against Lostock and this time our batting was tremendous with Max W and Max H scoring 34 off just one over. I was super confident that we had done enough this time for a victory until the umpire advised us that on the last ball we needed a six to win. The tension was mounting and Shaun was the batsman to face the final ball. Shaun made a gallant effort to try to gain the victory but was clean bowled! I forgot to mention that by this time, the skies had opened and we were all soaked (again).

We all enjoyed a fantastic morning of cricket on a beautiful pitch so we were not too downhearted when we jumped on the coach for our journey home.

Well done boys, you were a credit to your school.
