Welcome back to our final term!
We hope you’ve all had a lovely half-term. It’s been a busy week in Linmere.
In English, we are working towards writing a persuasive leaflet about waste management, using The Paper Bag Prince by Colin Thompson as our inspiration. This links with our new topic on recycling. This week, we’ve explored how to use noun phrases, subordinating conjunctions, and adverbials in our writing when describing a scene.
In Maths, we’ve been identifying 2D shapes and their lines of symmetry, as well as comparing and classifying quadrilaterals.
A big well done to the Year 4s who completed their multiplication check on Friday!
In Science, we’ve been constructing electrical circuits using cells/batteries, wires, bulbs and motors.
In History, we’ve started our new topic: the Ancient Greeks. We were very impressed with how pupils used their prior knowledge of other civilisations to support their learning.
In Art, we are producing work influenced by the Hindu, Holi festival.
We were also visited by a dental nurse this week, who reminded us of the importance of good dental hygiene. All pupils received an information leaflet to take home.
A huge congratulations to Keiya for earning her gold reading badge, awarded for reading four times a week for 35 weeks — an amazing achievement!
Well done to Evie and Navannah for receiving lunchtime awards: Evie for always being polite and respectful, and Navannah for helping to tidy up every day after lunch.
Also congratulations to Connie for winning the raffle prize!
Reminders:
- PE is on Monday and Thursday — please bring the appropriate kit.
- Sports Day is now scheduled for this Friday.
Have a lovely week.
