What a busy week in Linmere!
In English, we have continued with our unit on persuasive writing, looking at the problems and benefits of landfills. The children then designed a poster to persuade others from a particular viewpoint about landfills.
In Maths, we have been identifying 3D shapes and learning how to read time using both 12-hour and 24-hour clocks, as well as converting between them. It would be useful to continue practising telling the time at home—both on digital and analogue clocks—as this is a skill some pupils need to build confidence in.
In Art, pupils have enjoyed making Modroc sea creatures. We used recyclable materials to make the base of our sea creatures, then added paper and wrapped wire to secure everything in place. Finally, we applied Modroc to complete our models.
In Science, we've been investigating which materials conduct electricity and which are insulators. We’ve also been learning about what makes a fair test: changing only one thing, keeping everything else the same, and measuring or observing the effect—in this case, whether the bulb lit up.
We continue to enjoy PE outside in the sun and have been improving our long jump. A reminder to bring in PE kits every Monday and Thursday.
A big thank you to Kira and Brooke for their great acting skills, helping with the Open the Book assembly.
Well done to Toby for winning the raffle prize!
Congratulations to Alyssia and Brooke for achieving their Silver Reading Award badges, and to George for receiving his Gold Reading Award badge and certificate.
Have a lovely weekend!
