What another lovely sunny week it’s been!
We’ve been joined by the Year 5 pupils from Blakemere in the mornings, and it’s been great to have them with us.
This week has been Mental Health Awareness Week, with the focus on community. In PSCHE, pupils have learnt about different types of communities and the importance of communities to protect our mental health. We also had our half-termly KiVa session, during which pupils discussed how to support someone who is being bullied. We looked at online bullying—how it can make a person feel and why it’s important to be careful about what we write online or via text.
In English, we wrote a class poem titled ‘Adventurous Child’, inspired by Windrush Child by John Agard. The poem includes several poetic devices we’ve been studying, such as similes, alliteration, metaphors, and personification.
In Maths, we’ve been working on decimals and their equivalent fractions, as well as writing tenths and hundredths as both fractions and decimals. We also recapped how to multiply 2-digit numbers by other 2-digit numbers, and how to multiply 2- and 3-digit numbers by a 1-digit number.
In D&T, we are designing the canvas for the Wooden Stars we’ve made.
In RE, we have enjoyed learning about different Hindu gods.
In PE, we’ve been playing rounders in the lovely sunshine. A reminder for pupils to bring their PE kit on Monday and Thursday, suitable for outdoor activities.
Enjoy the weekend!
