Hello New Starters
I can’t believe we have less than a week of the holidays left! I have been in school everyday this week preparing the classroom for our first week. I am so excited to meet all your children and get to know them. I know you have all been getting ready also with new school uniforms and shiny shoes.
The local authority has created this very useful leaflet that talks about school readiness and it might be worth having a little look through. The last page of this leaflet has a list of top tips and on this list it emphasises the importance of having your child’s sight and hearing tested. I would strongly urge you to take your child to the opticians before they start school and if you have any concerns over their hearing make an appointment with your GP.
My advice to ensure your child has a good start is to talk to them about what they are going to do and how much fun they are going to have. Talk about your own positive experiences of school or get their siblings to explain what they enjoy. Explain to them what is going to happen and the general routine of the day. Reassure them that Mrs Teece and I are there to help them with anything and that our job is not only to teach them but to make sure they are happy and safe.
Take care and I will see you soon.
Mrs Kelly
