Oakmere Class Blog 20.6.25

Date: 20th Jun 2025 @ 4:08pm

Hi Oakmere.

We have had a great week enjoying the lovely weather.  It’s always a treat when we can spend a bit more time outdoors.  This week with the Danceathon, learning to play golf with those who didn’t go on the trip on Thursday and our PE lesson preparing us for the athletics competition next week we have thoroughly enjoyed the weather.

Next week in English we are using the senses grid the children wrote to write a diary entry for Zeraffa’s trip down the Nile.  The children will be including some of the new vocabulary that we looked at today.  Well done to our spelling superstars who did so well on this week’s spelling test.  This week’s spellings are from the list of year 3/4 words and are below.

In maths we will continue to look at measurements and next week we will be working on perimeters.  In Science we are moving onto a new topic ‘Living things and their habitats and the children.  We are going to look at how we group animals and how we identify the through key characteristics.  In DT we are continue to work on our cushions. The children are finishing off sewing on their applique and starting to sew up the seams.  We have been very impressed with the children’s sewing skills so far.  The class gets very quiet when we are sewing and the children keep telling me how much the enjoy it.  In RE we will continue to explore the life of Abraham who is an important figure in three major religions and ask how he showed faith.     In music we have been creating our own compositions in French and this week we will be singing and playing along with musical instruments.  The children will be working with Mrs Riley on their Computing and French skills.

Please can I remind parents to send in hats and a water bottles for your children.  It would also help if the children had sunscreen to apply on days like today.

Congratulations to Daisy and Oscar for winning our raffle ticket prizes.

Have a great weekend everybody.

Mrs Kelly
