Oakmere Class Blog 27.6.25

Date: 27th Jun 2025 @ 3:44pm

Hello Oakmere.

We have had a busy week and seemed to get so much work done.  The children have been enjoying the slightly cooler weather and looking less lobster-ish when they come back to class.

In English the children explored the use of apostrophes and wrote sentences using the punctuation correctly.  Next week we are going to be ordering the events in the story so far and use sequencing language to create an organsised retell of the events.  The spelling words this week are again taken from our year groups wordlist.  Please allow your child time to practice these at home.

We have had a good look at perimeter this week and next week we are moving onto working on capacity.  The children are expected to understand the unit of measure and add/takeaway amounts.  Reading a scale is a tricky skill and one that can be easily practiced at home with a measuring jug and a bowl of water out in the garden.  In Science we are continuing our work on classification looking at invertebrates and vertebrates.  We continue to wait for our sunflower seeds to start growing.

In RE we are going to be writing questions about faith to ask a Christian.  We are hoping that our local vicar Richard will come in and chat to the children and answer their questions.

In History we continue to explore the impact of World War II and we will be looking at the leadership of different countries including Winston Churchill and Adolf Hitler.  The children are working on their rounder’s skills at the moment which is proving to be a bit tricky as everyone managed to get themselves out this week.  We are going to focus on watching the bases next week.  They continue to work with Mrs. Riley on a Tuesday morning on French and computing.

Our raffle prize winner this week was Olivia Hanson.  Our attendance this week was 92.80%.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Mrs Kelly
