Oakmere Class Blog 28.3.25

Hello Oakmere

We have had a lovely week, and the children have been working hard.  They completed a lovely piece of writing pretending to be a news reporter at a refugee camp.  They worked hard to use a wide range of descriptive phrases, adverbs and conjunctions.  The children then went through their work and edited it carefully.

In maths they have worked on ordering fractions and learning their times table.  The year 4 children have been playing on the Maths frame times table game to help them prepare for the times table test.  If you wish to try this at home the link is below.

Multiplication Tables Check - Mathsframe

In Science we looked at friction and how contact forces are affected by it.  We looked at how wheels would travel over a variety of surfaces.  Anyone looking in our classroom yesterday would have seen cars whizzing around the classroom and the children measuring how far they travelled over the different surfaces.

In DT we looked at how to strengthen box to protect our Easter eggs. The children will decide which one they want to add to their easter egg box.   In RE we have created a mind map about the Easter story which we will continue to add to over the next few weeks.  In PE we finished off our handball unit with a game out on the playground.  The children had a great time and our coach was very impressed with how good they were.

Next week I will be away on a Residential trip and those children who aren’t coming with us will be working with Mrs Williamson.  They are having a rainforest theme with art work inspired by Henri Rousseau. They will be making a maths game and on Tuesday afternoon they are having a carousel of sport activities.  I know they will have a great time.

Well done to Tyler for winning our raffle ticket prize a well-deserved reward for such a hard working child.  Congratulations to our TTRS champions Lily and Beatrice.  A big well done to Thea, Suzanne, Charlotte, Lily, Lily and Oscar for acing our times table test

A special mention goes to Jacob, Suzanne, Esmee and Lily for volunteering to be the angels in our collective Worship this morning.

Our attendance this week was Oakmere: 94.17%

Have a great weekend

Mrs Kelly
