Hello Oakmere

What a great start to our last half term together.  The children came back with lots of lovely news to share about their holiday.  They are seemed so grown up and mature.

In English we started our big write re-telling the story we have been looking at from the viewpoint of the Wisp.  We are hoping to finish this off next week and start on our next book.  Spellings this week are tricky words that help you spell other words.  This week’s spellings are below.

The spelling test will be on Tuesday.

In Math’s we have started our new unit on Measure.  We have looked at mm, cm and m.  The children did fi8nd measuring with a ruler a bit tricky but we have practiced all week and they are much better.  We have completed the twelve times table this week and for the rest of the term I will be picking a random times table each day to practice.

In Science we continue to look at plants and we are going to be growing pumpkins.  They are very quick growing plants and hopefully they made even produce a pumpkin or two we can bring home.  We will be learning what lants need to grow and flourish.

In Geography we will be finishing looking at North America by comparing New York to Winsford and discus the differences and similarities.  In RE we will be exploring what do philosophers say about God and how does this compare to your worldview?  The children will be choosing a philosophy that closest matches their point of view. In DT we have finished cutting out our patterns and creating our appliqué ready to sew on next week.  We have practiced the three different stiches we are going to use to sew up our cushion.  See if your child can tell you the three stiches (running, backstitch and blanket).  In PE the children continue to work with our sports coach to get ready for next Fridays Sports Day.

You may have noticed a sponsorship form coming home for our Dance-a-thon on Tuesday 17th June, the money raised will go towards purchasing a set of Ipads for the school.  It will be a non-uniform event, and we are asking the children to come to school 'dressed to boogie'.  We are asking that sponsorship forms and any money raised is sent into school by Friday 20th June.

Congratulations to Beautiful for winning our raffle prize this week.  Well done to Charlotte, Beatrice, Olivia, Daisy, Sebastian, Thea, Lily, Jacob, Belle and Archie for getting forty out of forty on the times table test.

Have a great weekend.
