Oakmere Class Blog 9.5.25

Hello Oakmere
We have had a lovely short week in Oakmere. It has caused some confusion as they children keep expecting different lessons at different times and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve written up the wrong date! Back to normal next week. We had a great time on Thursday celebrating VE day and I was very impressed with the children’s singing skills. We also got to use our new calm area, called ‘The Nook’ to explore spirituality which was a bit of a celebration about how amazing the children are.
In English we finished our first-person account about the refugee camp. They have returned to their writing and edited it looking at punctuation and spelling. Next week we be exploring the Wisps interaction with the old man character and what happens. The children will be exploring speech sandwiches and ensuring they use the correct punctuation. The spellings this week are looking at the ’sure’ and ‘ture’ sound.

In our shared reading we will be checking our predictions from last week and retrieving vocabulary from the text to support our predictions.
In maths we will be looking at tenths and decimal tenths. The children will be moving onto the 12 times table. Please find the link below for our 12x table song.

For my year fours (and year 3 if you fancy) if you would like to practice your times table skills as the time table test set by the government is looming the link is below.

Our Science this week will be using the compasses to navigate around our school. The children will be looking at the magnetic poles and how they work. In RE we are starting our new unit on faith and what that means to the children. In PE we continue to work on our Rugby skills and Athletics in preparation for our sports day. In music we are looking at patterns and sequences of beats. In PSHE the children are looking at the working world and the skills we need to reach our goals.
Congratulations to Charlotte for winning our raffle prize this week. Jacob, Belle, Archie, Thea, Charlotte, Beatrice and Olivia McCosh got forty out of forty on their times table test. Well done Beautiful for full marks on their spelling.
Our attendance this week has been 96.5% which is not bad but not enough to win. Fingers crossed for next week.
Have a great weekend.
Mrs Kelly
