Oakmere's Friday News

Date: 30th Sep 2022 @ 4:45pm

Good afternoon everyone,

Well what a miserable way to end a wonderful week! The rain hasn’t tempered our positive attitudes to learning though! The pace this year is fast but the children are showing such resilience, we couldn’t possibly be prouder of them!

Things are getting serious in Literacy… this week, the children wrote two longer pieces of work, this challenged their stamina for writing but they all gave it a good go! We are impressed by their efforts to make better vocabulary choices. We have nearly finished our class’ book. Reading/being read to is such a fabulous way to support your child’s vocabulary and overall Literacy skills - and special quality time!

In Maths, we are counting in 5s and even 50s! This is something you can definitely practise further at home. Our Y4s even had a taste of Roman numerals today, they all did really well with it!

In Science, we are carrying on our investigation, we designed the suspects’ outfits and next week, we will work out who could have best camouflaged in the dark!

Earlier this week, we welcomed a new member to our class… Super B! He is our class’ mascot! He will be going home weekly with the child he feels has shown the best attitude towards their work that week. When he goes home with your child, feel free to write/draw/stick pictures in the notebook included to share what you’ve been doing that weekend. Super B also brings along some stories which he would love to share with you and your child.

As ever, a reminder that PE in on Tuesdays and Fridays so please make sure your child has their kit on those days.

Have a lovely weekend, see you all next week.

The Oakmere team.
