Oakmere's Friday News

Date: 2nd Dec 2022 @ 2:57pm

Good afternoon,

Firstly, I would like to congratulate our guitar and ukulele players on their Christmas concert! It is always a daunting prospect but they all did brilliantly and we are very proud of them. We hope you enjoyed it if you managed to attend.

Colds and coughs have been out on force this week, we hope everyone feels a lot better next week.

In English, the children wrote their final piece of poetry which we won't be telling you too much about as you'll find out for yourself soon! The children produced beautiful poems and worked very hard on presenting them too. Well done all!

Maths has proved a challenge this week but we all worked hard and tried our very best to grasp and apply a difficult concept.

For your information, from next week, we are going to start reassessing the children's reading. We are aware that some children are ready to move on (which is great news!) so you might find that they'll be bringing a different level home. Our aim is to get everybody done before the Christmas holidays so watch this space!

And on the subject of reading, the first new Bronze reading certificates where handing out this week - please remember that as part of our homework, we expect the children to read at home at least four times a week. We know that busy family lives can mean that it is difficult to fit it all in but it is vital for your child's progress that they become confident and fluent readers. Reading comes in every single aspect of school life so the sooner they can read confidently, the easier learning becomes for them.

Please make sure that you continue to access TTRS and/or Numbots too - the children can challenge us and can get weekly certificates.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,

See you next week, the Oakmere Team.
