Orienteering Afternoon

Date: 14th Jun 2016 @ 7:47pm

The skies were blue as we boarded the minibus for Hartford High School and the children were joyfully anticipating an afternoon in the sunshire running around the wonderful Hartford campus. However, that blissful image was not to materialise. Instead, black skies, rain, rain and more rain!

The organisers thought it best to continue, despite the fact that the only creatures that could manage orienteering in that weather was ducks! As usual, our children did their best and raced around the field looking for clues. Finding the answers at each checkpoint was not hard but recording them on the sheet was impossible.

The claxon sounded for the end of the quest and it was a delight to see all the children return to the Gazebo (now bending under the weight of the rainwater) with smiles on their faces handing in their soggy sheets. Even our year six boys managed to laugh at the fact that their superbly styled hair was now a complete mess!

A massive well done to everyone that took part. I don't think I have ever been more proud of you. Let's hope next week is full of sunshine as it is National School Sports Week which means sport every day.
