Our week in Oakmere 03.10.20

Date: 3rd Oct 2020 @ 2:20pm

I can’t believe that September has been and gone and October has arrived... however, when I look back at all we have achieved in September I am surprised at just how much we have done.

This week in English we finished looking at our book “Count on Katherine” and the children pulled all their learning together to create some wonderful fact files about Katherine Johnson. Next week we will start a new book so watch this space for more!

We have moved on to addition and subtraction in maths. To help us we have been using lots of practical resources. One thing that we did notice was that we could all do with a little refresher on number bonds. If you have some “spare” time then take a look at this site which may help – it’s also great for learning times tables! https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button#:~:text=Hit%20the%20Button%20is%20an%20interactive%20maths%20game,challenge%20and%20develop%20a%20child%27s%20mental%20maths%20skills.

In topic we explored the feelings and thoughts of the Spanish explorers who came across Mayan ruins.

Despite the weather we did manage to go out for PE. Please can you continue to make sure that the children have their PE kits in school on a Tuesday and Friday and that it is all named and fits.

See you next week.
