Our week in Oakmere 22.11.19

Date: 22nd Nov 2019 @ 9:51pm

It's been another busy week in Oakmere. We have now started our new English text - Winter's Child. This week the children have been planning and writing diary entries in role as the main character. Towards the end of the week they then had a go at re-writing their diaries trying to improve word choices, include expanded noun phrases and a variety of prepositions.

In maths we have continued looking at various methods to solve addition and subtraction calculations. This week we used the expanded column method and worked up to adding or subtracting two 3-digit numbers. This proved to be incredibly tricky at the beginning of the week but the children are gradually starting to feel more confident about it.

On Thursday afternoon we enjoyed a visit from a local PCSO- PC Gill - who shared lots of information with us about his job.

As part of our topic work we studied some photos of Delamere Street, both past and present. The children had great fun spotting similarities and differences and then wrote all about them.

Please continue to send in any donations for our Christmas hamper - cleaning products. Also, if anyone is able to help out on stall on the day of the fair please let us know.
