Parliament Week in Sandymere - Part 2

Date: 15th Nov 2018 @ 10:22pm

Today we had a class vote for the end of the day story, but Mrs Worstencroft only let the boys vote! We discussed how this made us feel and whether or not we felt it was fair.

I feel cross. (Lauren)

I feel sad. (Sophie)

It seems a bit not fair. (Michael)

I feel sad that the girls can’t vote. (Jenson)

We then looked at the book ‘Fantasically Great Women Who Changed the World’ and learned about the Suffragettes and how they helped women get the right to vote.

We made our own Suffragette rosettes, using the colours purple, green and white, and added powerful Suffragette slogans, 'VOTES FOR WOMEN' and 'DEEDS NOT WORDS'.

We also decorated gingerbread women biscuits with white, green and purple icing and, at the end of the day, as we read our story that we had ALL voted for, we ate them to celebrate equality and our right to vote. They were yummy!
