Sandymere - Week 5
Date: 20th Apr 2020 @ 8:31am
Hello there Super Sandymere!
We hope that you all had a great Easter in the beautiful sunshine. We certainly did even if it was a very different Easter to what we are used to! It was full of chocolate eggs, Easter crafts, making and sending cards to loved ones, playing in the paddling pool, camping in the garden and more bike rides.
There are some resources that you may have heard about in the news over the last week going live today. We have added them below, so if you are looking for some more structure to your day you may find them useful. From what I have seen so far the resources look good but please don't feel that you have to do them. Spending precious time playing games, reading stories and having fun with your families is just as important at this time.
The first is an online resource called Oak National Academy. They have videos of lessons recorded for children by teachers and they should be able to be completed using resources you have at home. Below is the link for this week's resources. The Maths is measure with Mr Latham and the English with Miss Brown.
Year 1 Daily Schedule Day 1, inlcuding Maths, English and Geography https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/year-1/#schedule
The second is BBC Bitesize, and they have also got sessions for each day, including English, Maths and another area of the curriculum.

If you're looking for some creative fun and learning to I would highly recommend Draw With Rob Biddulph, who is the official World Book Day illustrator. He has some fantastic videos showing you how to draw the characters from his books. They are really easy to follow but the results are great. Me and my daughters have had great fun over the last week just having a go. I wonder if you can work out who drew which picture, one is mine , one is Annie's (age 6) and one is Josie's (age 3). I will post later in the week to reveal who drew each picture. It would be great to see some of your pictures when we all come back together, maybe you could use the characters you draw to make your own story. Follow the link below to get drawing. All you need is a piece of blank paper, a pen or black pen and some colours.

Last week I noticed that my girls were beginning to find it a bit difficult to express themselves when they were feeling a little worried about the current situation. I have attached some of the activities that really helped them, with the worry monster and the Jar of Happiness being real hits! Our Worry Monster was especially useful when Annie saw a real mouse in our Wendy House in the garden!! You may not feel that they are needed, which is great, but they are there just in case you do.
We are missing you all lots! Keep safe, keep smiling and we will catch up again soon.
