Sandymere Class Blog 1.3.25

Date: 1st Mar 2025 @ 8:16am

Happy 1st of March everyone. It is so lovely to start the day with some sunshine. ☀️

We have had a lovely first week back together.

In Curious Quest sessions this week, our Faithful Friends needed help getting past some tall mountains that the Greap had put in their way. Our quests this week focused around a poem called There's No Such Thing as Monsters. We really enjoyed performing the poem together as a class and then creating our own monsters. We wondered if next week we might be asked to use these monsters in our own poem!

Our focus in maths has been subtraction. We have looked at subtracting by crossing out images and by jumping back on a number line. Everyone worked really confidently, well done.

In geography, we had our first look at physical and human features found in the UK. Can your child name any physical and human features? Can they tell you what these words mean?

We had a wonderful outdoor PE lesson on Friday afternoon with the sun shining the whole time. We are learning ball skills that in the future can be used in games such as football and rugby. This weeks focus was dribbling and keeping control of the ball with our feet. We had lots of fun using these skills to play games in small teams.

On Wednesday we are celebrating World Book Day. Our theme is space and if you would like to you can dress up to fit this theme. Please remember though that we are also walking to Winsford Library on Wednesday morning, how exciting! Please ensure that sensible footwear is worn and that your child has a coat with them.

We hope that you have an enjoyable weekend,

Team Sandymere.
