Sandymere's Class Blog 11.7.25
Date: 11th Jul 2025 @ 1:25pm
What a hot end to the week! Thank you for keeping your child safe in the warm weather by sending them with a hat, water bottle and with suncream.
In maths this week and next week, we are learning about money. So far we have looked at identifying and sorting the coins that we use in the UK. It is so tricky because the size of the coin doesn’t always give us a clue to it’s value. A 20p is smaller that a 10p but the 20p has more value. Next week we will be looking at the notes we use too. Please practise coin recognition at home, it is a skill that can take lots of practice to master.
In English we have been enjoying a seaside theme. We have looked at senses poems, songs, rhymes and shape poems. Your child should have brought some of their poetry work home to share with you, we hope you enjoyed reading it.
In geography we have been looking at maps. This week we looked at an ordnance survey map and learnt about what the different symbols mean. Some were quite easy to work out but some of the symbols proved to be rather tricky to work out.
Next Friday we have the Leaver’s service at St John’s Church. A huge thank you for practising our class song at home. We sounded amazing when we practised it yesterday.
We will not be giving out any new reading books next week. Please can you return all school reading books to school next week. Check around the house to make sure there aren’t any hiding!
Have a lovely weekend and stay safe in the sun,
Team Sandymere
