Sandymere

Date: 24th Sep 2022 @ 11:14am

What beautiful sunny weather to finish the week and start the weekend. I hope that are all enjoying the weekend so far.

It has been another busy week in Sandymere and lots of fun has been had as we continue to build confidence in a new year group.

What have we been up to this week?

English - we have read to the end of Lost and Found and we are pleased to report that it had a happy ending. All the children have produced some wonderful writing in the last 3 weeks. Over the next two weeks we will be building up to writing our own story.

Maths - lots of new vocabulary this week which we have used to compare objects and numbers. We have used the terms less than, greater than and equal to.

Science - our science this week looked at seasonal change. We now know the names of the four seasons and we have some ideas about how the weather changes depending on the season.

Computing - when we looked back on our week this lesson was one of the favourites. We had the laptops out and learnt how to use the track pad to click, drag and drop. Here is the website we used, you need a mouse or track pad to play it like we did in class. https://studio.code.org/s/course1/lessons/3/levels/1

Our other lessons this week have been RE, PE, music, phonics, handwriting, guided reading, PSHCE and number work.

NumBots tip - I think some children are finding the timer a little intimidating. I can't find a setting to turn it off(let me know if you can) so I suggest putting a hand over that part of the screen while they play.      NumBots suggest most effective practice is playing for at least 3 minutes a day, 4 or 5 times a week.

See you all on Monday.
