Sandymere's Magical Maths Day

Wow! What an exciting day we have had in Sandymere! We started the day with a challenge set by the Superhero Headquarters. We had to make an Invisibility Potion to help the Superheroes keep an eye on all of those villains. We worked in three groups and each group followed the same recipe, very carefully adding some lovely ingredients like Dragons Blood, Troll Bogies and Fairy Teardrops. We had to choose the correct cups, spoons and egg cups and the children measured each ingredient carefully. When each group had finished, even though we had all followed the same recipe, we noticed that each group had made a different amount of potion. After lots of super maths language and reasoning skills we realised that each group had different sized cups and spoons! “Mrs Worstencroft, when we do it next time make sure you give us all the same sized things and then we can all make equal amounts!” Have a look for some of our other challenges in the photos.
