07.10.2018 - Blakemere's Blog

Date: 7th Oct 2018 @ 12:49pm

Well, what another busy week we have had in Blakemere! The children are continuing to work extremely hard and show an excellent attitude to all aspects of their learning.

In Science, we have continued to explore and learn about the circulatory system. We have so explored the heart and the lungs and this week we focused on the job of our blood. We created a storyboard to show the the different jobs that the blood has. We also learnt that an average person has around 5 litres of blood in their body. We filled up jugs with red-coloured liquid to show how much this looked like.

In English, we have continued to explore Manfish and learn more about the life of Jacques Cousteau. The children wrote extended diaries on Friday about a particular event in Cousteau's life. Their focus was to include all the grammar and puncutation elements we have explored so far.

We have also completed our PowerPoint presentations about a chosen time period. We have learnt how to use animation and to insert photographs into them. Keep a look out as these will be uploaded to our Topic page.

On Friday, we were lucky enough to have a visit from the Winsford Town Mayor. She talked to the children about her role and she will be working closly with Mya, the Junior Mayor. She talked about she was elected and how our Town Councillors are elected, which allowed us to discuss the British Value of democracy in more detail. We also had the opportunity to ask any questions that we had and to try on the robes.

I would finally like to say a huge thank you to Brooke, Mya, Annie, Lily, Olivia, Hannah and Max for representing Blakemere at the All Age Service today. You all did a fabulous job!

What another great week we have had!

See you tomorrow.
