10.12.15 Sandymere Learning Update

Date: 10th Dec 2015 @ 9:58am

This week the children have been looking at information texts in Literacy and explored the pages of The Usborne Book of Trucks with a specific focus on Fire engines.  They have labelled their own drawings and explored different ways of writing quality sentences.

In Maths we have been looking at time and orering events throughout a day.  They are doing well with their o'clock times.  Perhaps you could practise this a little more at home too?

In P.E we have developed our ball skills further and even had time to squeeze in a few new warm up games.  There were LOTS of giggles this week!

In Science the children had great fun listening to different sounds they could make using containers and dried pasta. It was quite a symphony at one stage.

Now we are building up to the festive season and some of the children had the opportunity to create a Santa face complete with curly beard.  The children worked on their shape recognition in the process and developed their skills in cutting, using different scissor types and using glue.

The children are ending the week with a 'show off' piece of writing for their assessment books.  I'm sure they will love it as they will be writing instructions for a festive activity! angel

That's all for this week. One more week to go before the Christmas break.  See you all later at the disco.
