13.10.16 Sandymere Learning Update

Date: 13th Oct 2016 @ 11:17am

This week the children have begun work on the harvest festival song. They have practised in class throughout the week and the words have been sent home to practise too. This is your child's homework this week!

We have continued our work on being Thankful and looked at the creation story in the Bible. We have discussed why we are thankful to God for creating the world. Our main hall display is finished – perhaps take a moment to look at parents evening?

In literacy we have worked on asking the Hoctopize questions using question words and question marks correctly. The children were very imaginative.

In maths we had great fun using the balance scales to work out which snacks were heavier/lighter. We also used our hands as a way of measuring weight and tried to work out things that were heavier and lighter than a tin of beans! We have also worked hard on spelling the days of the week.

In PE we worked on team game skills and listening carefully to instructions. We did giggle a lot when we played ‘splurge and pop’. We were also treated to a cricket lesson with Mark Greaves and he was impressed with the children who showed great progress.

Thank you to the parents that continue to listen to their children read regularly. Raffle tickets have been issued.

A huge thank you for harvest festival donations – there’s still time to send in your tins.
