17.9.15 Sandymere Learning Update

Date: 17th Sep 2015 @ 10:11am

The children have all worked incredibly hard this week and should certainly be proud of themselves!  They are adapting beautifully to working at the tables and showing us their independent learning skills.  We are sure they must be sleeping well!

In Literacy we have started to look at the book Where my wellies take me by Clare and Michael Morpurgo.  The children have enjoyed looking at the the map from the book and coming up with noun phrases to describe the different places the main character Pippa visits on her travels.  Can your child tell you what a noun phrase is?  They have also started to work on sequencing words such as first, next, after that.  Perhaps you could rehearse these words with your child over the weekend as they help you around the house?

In Maths the children have been showing off their skills counting to 20 and beyond.  Some children even reached 100! Fantastic!  We have been practising one more and one less than any given number too.  Again this could be practised at home or in the car on the way to school.

As part of our topic Where will my wellies take me the children have been on two wellie walks this week.  One around the school grounds and another to the church.  On both occasions the children have developed their computing skills by taking photographs, of key points on their journey, using the Learn Pads and creating Picollages.  They should be very proud of themselves. yes

This week we have also started handwriting practise and worked on pencil control when pattern making, explored leaves in Science and continued skills in Gymnastics during our P.E lessons.

So all in all another very busy week!

Well done Sandymere class.
