20.11.15 Sandymere Learning Update

Date: 21st Nov 2015 @ 2:54pm

Sorry for the delay in updating you all (the site was temporarily down).

The children should be very proud of themselves with their efforts in writng this week as they have started to write their very own version of the Katie Morag story. We began the week by imitating the story through a story map then we innovated our own.  We changed KAtie for Princess Rosie, the setting from the show to a castle and the muddy sheep to a unicorn that had lost its magic!  The children have been incredibly imaginative and exceeded my expectations. The introduction and build up have gone well and now they are ready to write the problem and resolution.

Also this week we have been making pizzas in maths and using fraction language - whole, half and quarter.   Needless to say the children loved this activity.  We have now swapped to adding using a number line and creating symmetry monsters.

As it was Anti bullying week we raised the profile of our children's anti bullying policy STOP.

Start - Telling - Over St John's - People

we also watched an anti bullying clip called Daisy Chain and used this to fuel discussion about what bullying looks like and how it makes us feel .  The children have all made their own daisies so we can create our own daisy chain.

You may watch the clip with your child at home using this link:

We hope you're having a super weekend!
