Good morning!

What a busy week we have had!  A week full of new challenges, creativity and personal WOW moments.  Delamere class have been working super hard on their independent working skills and they should be so proud of their acheivements particulalry with their writing.

This week we have continued to look at Major Glad, Major Dizzy and spent a great deal of time exploring the story through the images.  If you haven't seen the text yourselves ask your child about the historical references and how the story is rooted in the 1800s to start with.  The book talk associated with this book has been fabulous and the children in Delamere have been making some excellent connections between the characters thoughts, feelings and lifestyles. As a result we have seen some fantastic writing both in and out of character using the past tense.  On Wednesday we thought about looking forwards rather than into the past and discussed our futures.  We listened to a song from Matilda the Musical called 'When I grow up ...' then wrote our own versions.  Mrs Worstencroft is hoping to record some of their lyrics today and share audio files via the school website - technology permitting! If you wish to share the song again with your child you can use this link http://www.viewpure.com/e0tRDhEmdO4?start=0&end=0

In maths this week we have continued to work hard on problem solving using division and multiplication.  This can be tricky and certainly gets our maths brains working hard.  Our top tips from problem solving are:

  • read the question carefully
  • underline the important parts of the question
  • decide which operation to use +-x or divide
  • show your working out to explain

Please make sure your child is logging on to https://play.numbots.com/#/intro and https://ttrockstars.com/ regularly to improve their quick response and mental maths skills.  Your child's login is the same for both.  Remember these aren't apps.  You simply use your search engine to search then login.

In other areas - we have continued to talk about mental health this week and created the most beautiful stained glass inspired tulips that will hopefully be displayed on our classroom windows once the beans have been taken down.

A HUGE well done this week.  Your child should feel very proud of themselves.  They have certainly 'Let their light shine before others' Matthew 5:16

I know that the children will continue to be busy bees over the next few days and that Mrs Worstencroft has some gorgeous activities lined up.

If you haven't already, then don't forget to book your parent's evening appointment for next week via school spider.

Enjoy the rest of the week.  Fingers crossed for some sunshine! (I had to mention the weather as some point)
