23.10.15 Sandymere Learning Update

Date: 23rd Oct 2015 @ 1:59pm

WOW can you believe that we have completed our first half term in Year 1 already?  The children have all worked so hard and have adapted beautifully to the changes and challenges in Sandymere. We are very proud of them all.

It was lovely to meet you all at parent's evening this week (thank you for coming) and we hope that you enjoyed looking through your children's books and seeing for yourselves just how hard your children have worked and the progress they are making.

This week has been 'show off' week in our classroom where we have asked the children to show off their skills in phonics, literacy and maths.  In Literacy the children were asked to write the story of Katie Morag all on there own and in maths the children completed a series of different questions covering aspects of maths taught throughout the year so far.  In phonics we have focussed on the phonemes taught so far and practised writing the days of the week.

We have also 'shown off' with our class assembly on Tuesday in front of the whole school - the children were very brave and performed  the harvest poem fantastically!  They also did themselves proud at the Harvest festival singing 'The farmer sows a seed' in church!

Don't forget to check out our class discussions - accessed via your individual pupil login.

Also check out the handwriting link at the top of our class page to take a look at our handwriting practise.

All that's left to say is have a fabulous half term!
