This week has been topic week where we have focussed our time and learning on The Great Fire of London.

The children have had the opportunity to look at the clothes worn by people in 1600s and transferred their reading skills by  labelling the clothes worn on a  painting of King Charles II - the children were amused at the thought of men wearing stockings/tights!  They have also used their Literacy skills when writing noun phrases to describe a scene of the Great Fire.  There were some impressive contributions such as screaming people, tumbling towers and hot, burning fire.  Well done children.

In History, we have compared modern day London to 1666 London and the children enjoyed watching an online tour of modern day London and some of it's landmarks.  Perhaps you could look at the landmarks online with your child at home?

Continuing the Great Fire theme, the children have experimented with pastels to create flames and also sketched some timber framed houses as seen on Pudding Lane in 1666 London.

The children are ending the week with constructions of  their own Pudding Lane houses (thank you for all the boxes!)

In maths, we have looked at capacity and in Literacy we have finished writing own own version of the Katie Morag story.

Phew! Such a jam packed week.  Have a good rest this weekend as we have a great deal planned for next week too!
