26.5.16 Sandymere Learning Update

This week homework will be sent out towards the end of the week so that the children can complete it over the half term.

We have been busy showing off our skills in writing this week!  We have completed character descriptions about superheroes with a focus on using the basic skills.

• capital letters
• finger spaces
• full stops
• and - to join sentences
• writing our letters on the lines

I'm looking forward to reading their work over the half term.

In maths we have been problem solving.  The children have been encouraged to use their reasoning skills to explain their answers.  We investigated how many buttons the gingerbread men would need.  Perhaps you could ask your child to show how we did this?

In Art, we looked at weaving this week. Some children have begun their weaving - it turned out to be trickier than they were expecting.  We will continue this after half term.

As you know, Mrs Winder leaves us on Friday to begin her maternity leave.  I'm sure you will join me in wishing her the best of luck! We can't wait to meet the baby.
