5.11.15 Sandymere Learning Update

Date: 5th Nov 2015 @ 9:51am

Welcome back!  The half term break seemed to whizz by!

This week our focus has been all around Guy Fawkes.  We have explored who Guy Fawkes was and the significant events surrounding this historical individual.  The children have completed some excellent writing about the events and used their robot arms to spell tricky words such as 'houses of parliament'.  Well done children!  We have also created fire collages and used pastels on black paper to create firework displays. They look amazing. smiley

In Maths the children have continued to look at the days of the week and have thought about the different things they did over the holidays and added these to our weekly wheel.  Well done to Kyran for spotting the 'secret' message on the blog over half term and bringing his ideas to the lesson ready.

In Literacy we have continued to look at Katie Morag and contrasted the two grannies.  The children have written some excellent pieces about the grannies and used 'because' to give reasons.

A few extra notes ...

Please could we have all PE kits returned to school.  We have had a few parents informing us of missing kit so if you'd be kind enough to check your child's kit for any 'extras' they may have acquired and return them to school.  Thank you.

Next week we begin Guided Reading - which is a group reading session where we teach and develop specific reading skills.  Look out for the Guided Reading stamp in your child's reading diary.

And finally, thank you so much to all the parents that read regularly with their child, especially over half term.  We have issued GOLD stickers for those that have read frequently.

That's all for this week! Stay safe tonight and over the weekend celebrating bonfire night!
