Blakemere do the Haka!

Date: 19th Jan 2019 @ 9:11pm

Our P.E unit this half term is dance with a focus on world sport in dance. On Friday, we began by exploring the Haka, which is a traditional Maori ceremonial dance. Since 1907, it has also been part of the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team in which they use it to try and intimidate their opponents through their actions, facial expressions and noises.

We began by exploring some basic patterns and moves within the Haka and worked hard on creating a basic class routine. The children then split off into groups and created their own 15 beat Haka.

Keep looking at our class page for Blakemere's Haka!
