Blakemere Presents World Book Day 2021

Date: 5th Mar 2021 @ 3:13pm

Blakemere had lots fun, whether at home or in school, taking part in the activities for World Book Day 2021. Our day focused on the text 'The Man Who Walked Between the Towers' by Mordicai Gerstein. This a story based on the real life events of August 7th 1974, where Phillipe Petit walked between the Twin Towers in New York. The children had the opportunity to listen to the story and to watch a brief video of actual footage of the event.

The children produced lovely cinquain poems about Philippe and tried hard to follow the syllable rules of the poem, they build towers from spaghetti and marshmallows and then produced some art work based on images from the book.

We also enjoyed listening to and guessing the Masked Readers throughout the day.

Here are some examples of work from throughout the day.

Have a fabulous weekend.

I can't wait to see you on Monday!
