Blakemere's Blog - 10.01.2020

Date: 11th Jan 2020 @ 1:05pm

Happy New Year everyone! We have had a busy week in Blakemere! In English we have continued learning about some endangered animals from our text - Can we save the tiger? We have used the text to write about bison and other endangered animals using parenthesis, modal verbs and adverbs for possibility. We are looking forward to exploring more of the text next week.

In Maths, we have spent the week revising place value, rounding numbers, roman numerals (which the children really enjoyed!), order of operations and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000, before we continue to focus on fractions next week. We will be moving on to multiplying fractions, dividing fractions and finding the whole amount from a given fraction.

In Science this week we have continued to focus on the theory of evolution and inheritance and the children have found out about Charles Darwin and why his findings are significant.

SECRET MESSAGE – What is 568,789 rounded to the nearest 1000?

I am thoroughly looking forward to working with you all!

Have a great weekend,

Miss Hartley
