Blakemere's Blog - 10.11.2019

Date: 10th Nov 2019 @ 11:35am

It was lovely to welcome everyone back to school on Monday and before we knew it we were straight back into working the ' Blakemere Way.'

During this week, the children have written their own stories based on the book 'Star of Fear, Star of Hope'. I have been incredibly impressed with the children's enthusiam and commitment to this task and I ook forward to reading them when they are complete.

Maths has been all about division. We focussed on using the short method of division earlier in the week and whilst the Year 5 children consolidated this method, the Year 6 chilldren moved on to exploring and practising the formal long division method. Once again, such a fantastic attitude was displayed towards a tricky aspect of Maths.

In history, we have been exploring the 'Dee Bridge disaster', which occurred in Chester in 1847. The children confidently and independently used a variety of different sources to compile their historical recount of such a tragic event. These will be proudly displayed within our classroom.

SECRET MESSAGE: Is there a remainder to this calcuation? Let me know. 2349 divided by 7.

I look forward to seeing you all in the morning.
