Blakemere's Blog - 13.10.2019

Date: 13th Oct 2019 @ 11:51am

Another fantastic week in Blakemere and I can't quite believe how fast the weeks are passing by.

Maths has focused on multiplication this week exploring both the short and long method. I was truly impressed with the children's perseverance and determination when approaching the formal long method. They never gave up even when it was tough at times. Well done!

In English, we have explored the use of active and passive sentences and how to recognise these. The children worked incredibly hard to produce passive sentences based on an image to show how the Jewish people were helpless and having things done to them. We are continuing to enjoy our story Star of Fear, Star of Hope and are looking forward to the challenge of writing our own story with a flashback.

In RE, we have been exploring one of Jesus' famous teachings - The Sermon on the Mount. We have been thinking about the messages in these Bible verses, what it tells us about Christians and how it can be seen in the life of a Christian today. The children produced some excellent and well-thought out pieces of work showing their thoughts and understandings of the Bibie verse.

In Science, we have explored materials which can be described as electrical conductors and insulators. We identified which materials were which by building simple circuits and seeing which materials still allowed the bulb to light up. We then drew our circuits using scientific symbols.

Secret Message for the week - What is an electrical insulator?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I shall see you in the morning.
