Blakemere's Blog - 20.10.2019

Date: 20th Oct 2019 @ 11:28am

Wow! What another busy week in Blakemere.

In English, we are coming towards the end of our work on the book Star of Fear, Star of Hope. The children, this week, have produced diary entries as one of the characters from the story focussing on using expanded noun phrases to describe feelings, characters, settings and atmosphere; passive voice sentences to show control over people and subordination. The children have become much more confident in using these skills over the coming weeks.

In Maths, we have begun to explore finding multiples of different numbers and how some numbers can be common mulitples. We have also looked at multiplying numbers by 10, 100 and 1,000 and exploring what happens to the digits within each number.

We have continued to explore the rich history of Chester within our topic before we visit later in the term. We have focussed on the time of the Tudors and how Chester continued to expand.

The children have been undertaking training to become play leaders. They had their first session a couple of weeks ago and were tasked with planning and designing a game for younger children. On Friday Blakemere worked with Sandymere (Year 1) to deliver their games in. This is all in preparation for play leaders to start after the half term. I was so incredibly proud of the children and how they conducted themselves with the younger children. They were absolutely amazing.
