Blakemere's Blog - 21.09.2019

Date: 21st Sep 2019 @ 8:15pm

Another busy and successful week in Blakemere with the children working hard.

Maths has focused on understanding, exploring and solving problems involving negative numbers and Roman Numerals. We particulary enjoyed trying to work out historical events from their dates given in Roman Numerals. Next week, we shall continue to explore Roman Numerals and move on to rounding numbers. We shall be the using the rounding rap to help us.

In English we have continued to explore our book Star of Hope, Star of Fear and worked hard to use expanded noun phrases and speech to create a setting description. The children are challenging themselves to use more adventurous vocabulary, which is great to see. I am looking forward to sharing more of the story with you all next week.

In topic we have begun to explore the rich history of Chester, starting with the Romans. The children have produced some beautifully presented fact files jammed packed with interesting information about the ancient city.

Finally, our film clips about electricity are coming on well and the children are looking forward to using the green screen app next week.

The secret message for this week is a synonym for said. Tell me any synonym for said you can come up with on Monday.

Keep reading and practising your times tables and spellings.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Mrs M
