Blakemere's Blog - 24. 11.2019

Date: 24th Nov 2019 @ 11:57am

It has been, yet another, busy week in Blakemere.

We have begun to explore our new text in English - Can we save the tiger? - which is to be based on a variety of endangered animals. We watched an emotive video about how tigers are endangered and the children were encouraged to write how the advert made them film and why the director chose to use sound and lighting in a particular way. We then went on to write list poems about tigers, which included some excellent vocabulary. Watch this space for copies of the children's work.

In Maths, we continued to explore BIDMAS and then moved on to fractions. We have started to explore equivalent fractions and will be moving on to simplifying and comparing them next week.

The children enjoyed our trip to Chester on Friday. The day began with the children carrying out a variety of fieldwork activities: interviewing members of the public, carrying out an audit of building use and a traffic survery, which we will use to create a piece of work about Chester as a place to visit. We then had a Roman tour of Chester and enjoyed building on our knowledge of Roman Chester.

Please can I remind you all about donations for our class hamper (traditional Christmas) and towards the Christmas Fair on the 6th December. Any little helps! Also, please come and let me know if you feel that you will be able to help out at the fair.

SECRET MESSAGE - Use BIDMAS to solve this calculation - 42 + 8x7 =

See you all Monday morning.
