Blakemere's Blog - 28.02.2020

Date: 29th Feb 2020 @ 12:43pm

I hope you have all had a nice half term break.

This week in Blakemere we have been working very hard. In English we have continued to focus upon our class book 'King Kong'. We have used speech to convey character and written a post card from the point of view of Ann. We have also looked at an extract from 'Beauty and the Beast' and re-written the extract using adjectives and synoyms to make the writing even better. Next week we will be using adverbials, active and passive voice, and expanded noun phrases in our writing.

In Maths, we have started looking at percentages, and we have looked at the link between fractions, decimals and percentages. Next week we will complete some more work on percentages, before moving on to focus upon ratio and proportion.

In History we have looked at oracle bones from the Shang Dynasty of Ancient China, and the children were very interested to find out information about the bones. In art we used the water colours to paint our drawings of China.

In RE we have begun our unit of work based on what different religions have to say about World Poverty and Charity. Next week, we look forward to an RE lesson based on our class value of 'Hope'.

In Music we have enjoyed our lessons based on a traditional Ghanaian song.

Have a great weekend,

Miss Hartley
