Blakemere's Blog - 13.06.2021

Date: 13th Jun 2021 @ 9:19pm

We have had a good start to our final half term as the 2020-2021 Blakemere Class. We are continuing to work hard in all areas.

In Maths, we have continued to explore shape and the properties of different shapes. We have particulary focused on quadrilaterals and how to find missing angles.

In English, we have continued to explore the book Manfish, all about the life of Jacques Cousteau. The children also wrote in role as him this week and produced a diary entry based on one of the events from his life using subordination and precise noun phrases.

We also transferred this skill of writing diaries into our history work about the Titanic. Again, we took on the role of one of the passengers and wrote a diary entry based on the events of the night of the 14th April 1912. The night the Titanic sank. The children have produced some emotive diary entries using extracts of survivors diaries.

In Science, the children have enjoyed creating their own new specie based on one of the animal groups. We shall be continuing with this next week.

Finally, the Year 6 children have began to work on their end of year play. Please can you support them to learn the words on the script and to the songs.

See you in the morning,

Mrs M
