Blakemere's Blog 14.01.,2022

Date: 16th Jan 2022 @ 9:56am

Blakemere, it is nice to be writing our first class blog of 2022. This last week, you have worked incredibly hard to produce some great work in all areas.

In English, we have produced some Tell me, question poems about endangered species. These poem are fabulous and have used lots of lovely vocabulary. This are to form part of our new display in class so watch this space for photographs once the display is complete. This poetry unit all about endangered species have lead us nicely into our next text - 'Can we save the tiger?' a non-fiction text about endangered species. We will be producing lots of non fiction writing about these magnificent animals, whilst aiming to master lots of new and exisiting writing skills. During this week, we also explored an advert, which had been created to make awareness of the poaching of tigers for the production of tiger bone wine. The children produced excellent reflections and thoughts about this advert. I think it is safe to say we are all looking forward to learning a little more about these endangered species.

We are also hoping to link this to our computing and creating a web page based on an endangered animal.

In Maths, we have continued to explore fractions looking at finding fractions of amounts, mulitpyong fractions by fractions and multiplying fractions by whole amounts. We have also had a go at solving problems to do with these questions.

In geography, we have continued to explore the UK - using the compass points to describe the position and direction of major cities and towns in relation to each other.

I would just like to remind everyone of the importance of reading at home on a regular basis, using Timestable Rockstars and practising your spellings as these are you homework.
