Blakemere's Blog - 17.09.2021

Date: 19th Sep 2021 @ 9:23am

What another busy week we have had in Blakemere. I am thoroughly ebjoying working with each and every one of you and I am extremely impressed at your commitment, determination and hardwork to Year 5 and 6.

We have made some excellent predictions and inferences using our VIPERS, based on our new text in English - Star of Fear, Star of Hope. We have looked at some of the vocabualry and images from the book and used these to help us to work out what we think may be going to happen. Towards the end of the week, the children revised using speech puncutuation to punctuate direct speech. We shall be building on this next ad working towards using speech to help convey the character and move the action forward. This will be based on another image from our book.

Maths has continued to focus on place value of 5, 6 and 7 digit numbers and then towards the end of the week we began to explore Roman Numerals. This will be something we shall continue to look at next week - how Roman numerals are made using 7 letters and how these represent all numbers in the number system.

In Science, we explored and labelled the parts of the digestive system. I was extremely impressed with their recall of the parts. We learnt that the small instestine is around 7 metres long. We shall be measuring this out this week.

Keep up the hard work Blakemere. You are doing a wonderful job.
