Blakemere's Blog - 26.11.2021

What another full on, busy week we have had in Blakemere. It amazes me how hard the children work and how much they achieve during our time together each day.

In English, this week, we have written our final piece based on the story 'Star of Fear, Star of Hope'. The children either took on the role of the character Helen or Lydia from our story and retold the stroy from their perspective with the added challenge of including evidence of our mastery keys. I was very impressed with the children's commitment and determination to this task and I very much look forward to reading these stories.

In Maths we have been developing our confidence in using the short method of division. We have learnt that continual practise of this operation and then applying it to real life word problems really helped our understanding. It was great to see the children independently solving multi-step problems and drawing on previous knowledge of other operations too.

God as ominpotent, omniscient and omnipresent is the continued theme in RE. We have explored a variety of Bible verses and identified which descriptions of God the verses were showing. There was some lovely discussion and debate regarding these with the childrenarticualting their views clearly. We then moved on to thinking about some big questions about God, which again led to lots of lovely discussion and debate. Some of the questions we thought about included the following:

When God created the world, why did he create bad things as well as good?

If God is omniscient, does he know what will happen in my future?

If God is omnipresent, meaning he is everywhere, how can he do this if there is only one of him?

Is it easy to forigve people?

I was very impressed with the children's maturity and attitude towards these questions. We have recorded our thoughts in relation to these questions in our class RE book.

Alongside all this learning we have undertaken this week, we have also accepted the challenge of being Play Leaders for the KS1 children. This week, we had some training from Mr Bearcroft at the Winsford Academy and we are now going to be developing our skills in leadning activities for other  children before we then do this with our KS1 children. The children thoroughly enjoyed this and are looking forward to being Play Leaders.

Finally, our week ended together with us taking part in the Winsford Lantern Parade for the Christmas Light Switch on. What a lovely end to our week. A huge thank you to everyone that came to this.

SECRET QUESTION

What is 5676 divided by 6?

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and I shall see you in the morning.
